Nobody good is applying, and the ones who do still need a chaperone on every call. Derrick Conyers stopped waiting for trained technicians to show up and started growing his own, bolting a training school onto the HVAC company he’s run since 1996. Who Hosts It
Sarah Gonzales spent 23 years in the US Foreign Service before she co-built a company and sold it, so she knows what it costs to be the person holding the whole thing together.
She started RS Gonzales in 2023 and took on HVAC contractors and nobody else. The same moment kept arriving on client calls. An owner who had built something good would admit, usually right at the end, that the business still stopped moving on any week they did.
That conversation was not happening anywhere else. Not in front of the crew, and not at a trade show surrounded by competitors. So she built a show around it and named it after the moment she wanted owners to reach.
It’s called Out of the Truck. So the idea is you’re getting out of the truck, you’re becoming a CEO, elevating yourself.
This is an owner-to-owner conversation, not an interview, and nobody is going to ask you to pitch anything.
Bring one thing you got wrong and one thing you got right, and that is the episode. We handle the recording, the editing, and the writing, so the only hour you spend on it is the one you spend talking.
You leave with the video, the clips, and a page on this site built around your story that you can send to anyone who asks what you do.
If you have run the truck and the business at the same time, you have an episode in you.
Mighty Small goes out to 3,500+ HVAC contractors. Short, one idea at a time, no pitch.
